Mosaics love the sunshine!     June 22 News

Beginners class at RHS Hyde Hall

Hyde Hall Mosaics in a Day

It was an absolute pleasure to deliver a Mosaic class to complete beginners at RHS Hyde Hall on 22nd May, with the backdrop of the fabulous gardens of the wonderful purpose built Clore learning centre. The students created a mosaic garden mirror, which was appropriate.

With the discarded of cuts, some of the students also made a start on sticking them onto a background for a mosaic of the RHS logo ( see above). When I next visit RHS Hyde Hall to discuss future mosaic dates, I shall present them with this so it to some colour and light to the shelves of their learning space.

Next year, as well as Mosaics in a Day, I hope to be able to offer my ever-popular Christmas Mosaic Star workshop too, as soon as this is available to book with the RHS I will let you know as I’m sure it will sell out quickly!

Mrs Mosaic included at Show Up Southend

Some of my mosaic work was included in the latest successful Show Up Southend stall on Southend High Street. At the monthly event they help raise the profile local makers by curating a collection of work to present to the public of Southend. I’m happy to say that as a result a few of my pieces now have new homes. There are different artists and makers on the last Saturday of every month, so well worth a visit to support local handmade makers.

Butterfly workshops available for August

My popular summer Butterfly Mosaic workshops are winging their way back for August. At this two hour workshop you will create a mosaic butterfly for the garden, selecting colours that are personal favourites of yours and enjoy a refreshing alcoholic summer punch (or tea/coffee). They are suitable for all abilities but particularly good for beginners to the craft. You will leave with a ‘goody’ bag of grout with instructions to weatherproof your piece at home (or for an additional £5 the piece can be left for me to grout and collected from 7 days later). The classes cost just £30 per person, all materials and tools provided.

As a subscriber to my newsletter I am giving a limited time discount of £5 to use towards a double ticket for one of these workshops. If you haven’t signed up to my newsletter yet, head over to my website to get the code.

Right now the sun is shining and its a beautiful day in Leigh on Sea, so hope you can get to enjoy some sunshine too. My next newsletter is planned to drop mid August, lots to report then, including more information for my Macmillan coffee Morning on 1st October.

if you know someone who may enjoy one of my mosaic workshops please pass this email onto them.
